What to do after a disaster: Natural Gas:

1. Smell: ordor of rotten eggs!

2. Listen: an unsual hissing or blowing noise from a gas appliance, the ground, or exposed gas piping.

3. Look: Flames near exposed piping or comign from the ground. Unusual appliance flame behavior.

4. Look: dirt  blowing, or rapid bubblings, at the surface of a body of water such as a canal, ditch, or stream. or unusual dying, brown or dead vegetation.

HOME SURVIVAL KIT CHECKLIST:

Portable radio

extra batteries

flashlight and candles

matches

First Aid Kit

Medications (one to two weeks worth)

5-10 days of nonperishable food supply

Ice chest

containers of water (1 gallon per person per day)

masking tape for windows & doors

propane stove

propane lanterns and light sticks

sleeping bags/ or blankets

personal toilet articles and sanitary needs

change of clothing for each household member

fuel for stove, hibachis or lanterns

extra pet food

tents/ tarps

folding cots

cell phone recharger for your car

Always keep at least 1/2 tank of gas in your car

establish an emergency plan/ meeting place for your family

list of emergency contacts: family, doctors, medications and other instructions as needed.

2. energy-dense snacks, such as nuts and dried fruit.

3. plenty of water.

4. map and compass or GPS (global positioning system).

5. flashlight with extra batteries and blub.

6. well-charged cell phone.

7. whistle and pocketknife.

8. emergency blanket.

9. waterproof matches or lighter.

10. hat, sunglassed, and sunscreen, rain gear and extra clothing.
